am i a liar if i talk to people or say my experiences like a million more people do, like you know i will get all the hate if i do, and i know if i lie a skip, we all dont need to believe.
Especially with the airlines this is so crazy that they actually only make money from the clubs now and at the same time have invented their own private money printer this way, because they can dilute the points at any point as much as they like and also points get invalidated if they are not used "in time".
To be fair, airlines essentially survive based on the valuation of their rewards programs. Sound crazy? Think about the price of tickets, and how much revenue is generated from a full flight. Not nearly as much as youd think. Especially when you consider the cost of the airplanes, the crew, airport fees, fuel, etc. So, honestly, I dont begrude airlines their loyalty programs all that much.
Membership cards are a scam. A business will never do anything for your benefit as a customer. They want your money and they want you to come back and spend more money. That's it.
Here in the You Kay I've refused to play this game in total.. WHAT EVERYONE HAS MISSED IS: They're selling your DATA they got when you signed up AND on your purchase habits… ME? Cash Bro – cash
In the '80s, I drove a lot of miles and got a lot of points, which eventually bought me a portable workbench, a couple of garden chairs, some (drink) glasses and many cassettes.
If I could open up youtube and only cycle through Chris Kohler’s videos on my YT shorts automatically; my life might amount to something, as I am sure it would spur me to start an anticapitalist revolution.
Been saying this to everyone when supermarkets started this member program stuff with apps and cards over here in Germany. Told everyone, it's goin to only get worse, less items on sale, reading out our data, at some point you'll have to shop for a certain amount per month at one brand to get the discounts… They haven't dared the last point, but everything else came as expected. Corpos never give you anything for free. If They give you anything, they just hide the pricetag from you.
My black card has great rewards. I just pay $400 per year for the privilege of spending $50k a year on the card and getting $700 worth of rewards in return.
The one upswing is that a lot of businesses (here in Canada at least) now either offer the option to sign up for the membership completely online OR have that as the only option. Basically that gives you the option to just make a new email account completely separate from anything else you use, sign up for the reward/point program, then get whatever the benefits are while limiting the amount of personal info they're actually able to collect about you in the first place.
These exist for gas stations that have most of the time a higher price than other gas stations in the same location. And you get some stuff like bags, that are usually a crappy quality.
You could buy a decent bag so quick if you just filled your tank up on any of the other gas stations. 😅. Or use your money for something else you actually want. Imagine that. 😂

Haha, "there's not heaps of competition left"

Well, I am a member of two hotel loyalty clubs and a few airline clubs…so I guess it worked.
I’m in Canada. YouTube sends me a lot of Australian tubers. Hmmmmm. Interesting

It is the delivery that makes it sarcastic, while actualy just telling the truth. These sketches are very very good.
You forgot the part where they say, "lets make the prices of certain items outrageously expensive unless they use the loyalty card."

So sick of paying memberships sigh..
I would give this man all my money for no reason.
DAY-TA! fucking Daahhh-taaahh…
when i'm asked if i have a rewards card, my answer is always the same….. " i don't fall for scams, because i stand for something."

No, I won't download your app and no I don't have a speedy card.

I love the recurrent theme of "this doesn't make any sense" , "but money", "OK, I like it"

Yeah, the loyalty program. Starbucks are the masters of this:
Buy an obscene amount of drinks to get a free drinks that ultimately costs about 50 cents on the dollar to make AT MOST.
Fun fact: each cup of coffe, just normal coffe, costs about 25 cents to make.
