Finland has been fairly successful countering Russian mis- and disinformation. The tactics are: educate people about critical media reading skills, help them detect false source and.. this is where US will fall on its face: PROVIDE ACCURATE INFORMATION YOURSELF.. And this needs to be consistent, the government can not lie. It just can't. Otherwise trust is broken and if that trust is broken then no methods will work. It takes decades to build that trust and it can be lost in a day.
You're correct. The issue is that the leaders benefit from the disinformation, so they are not going to create laws to combat it. I was wondering…. what will happen regarding any North Koreans captured in Ukraine as "PoWs"? Will they go through the same channels as russians and eventually get returned to that country in prisoner exchanges? Or will they get treated quite separately? They could not really be "exchanged" with North Korea as I guess that country has no Ukrainians to return here.

The North Koreans should not be described as mercenaries as they are being sent to Russia by their own government.Using foreign troops to fight in wars is nothing new .Britain and France used them in both World Wars although they were colonial troops .

I still struggle to figure out, how North Koreans and their rų command will communicate with each other successfully – sure, there might be a few North Korean commanders (who also talk rų) giving orders to their county's soldiers, but they'll also need to get and most importantly understand some orders and/or some kinda "coordination" and/or correcting orders, when something goes wrong or not the way they had expected/planned – so basically all in all, this sounds very complex and complicated to me.
Just off their higher ups and the rest will mostly run around like some headless chickens … same goes for all other soldiers, that might or might not come from other brics countries in the future.
Doesn't stop me being furious about our own total lack of action though.😢

It's a trade off, I think. The Russians need to buy munitions but they're coming up short on funds. So, they go to the North Koreans and say "We'll let you send your troops here and get combat experience in exchange for some artillery rounds being sent our direction. Once the North Koreans realize that Russia just needs more meat to throw into the grinder, the honeymoon will be over. "
